Holiday Helpers Began:
Three Weeks prior to Thanksgiving in 1987, a small group of Baton Rouge citizens met informally and through conversation it was suggested how heartwarming it would be to have a Community Thanksgiving Dinner. This small group of citizens immediately went to work and planned a delicious Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings for more than 1200 recipients. Hundreds of Volunteers came in to help and the entire activity was financed through donations. The activity was held at Independence Hall,
Which has since been demolished. The morning following the activity, the News Media headlined the Newspaper: “Thanksgiving Together”-A Success”-
